These light pastry biscuits are known throughout many countries, but originate in France. Their name literally translates as “palm tree leaf”.
Germans call them pig’s ears (Schweineohren) while the Swiss call them “cœur de France” (heart of France), and in Spain they are called ulleres (eyeglasses).
